The West Oxforfdshire Levellers will turn their attention to planning for Saturday 16th September after their open age side took to the field on Saturday 22nd July in what was a historic day for the club.

The Levellers have become the leading club in the South of England for the development of X-League, the newest format of the game that focusses on making contact with the ball to force a completed tackle, taking away the element of full contact. As a result of this version of rugby league, the focus becomes more about the skill level and fitness of the players rather than the physicality, something that is having an increasing appeal due to the links associated with both codes of rugby and illnesses such as dementia, Parkinson’s and epilepsy later in life.

The club hosted the event in 2022 at their home venue, Wood Green School and ran out winners on the day, going unbeaten against sides such as Oldham Owls, Brighton and Hove Rugby League and a travelling Scottish Thistles rep side. Oldham Owls ended the year as overall winners and Bradley Kelk from the Rugby Football League was there to present them with the trophy. It is hoped that the club can deliver a much bigger event this year, a lot of work is going on behind the scenes by the newly formed committee and the club are excited to make a number of announcements in the coming weeks regarding the Grand Prix Event.
